Airbus indeed!

It has happened at last! In fully loaded flight, Air India stuffed in 3 extra passengers!.

I have been looking forward to this for a long time. Here’s why.

When I was a student, I routinely used to travel long distance by bus, from my college to my home town during vacations. Now, it is common practice in these buses to seat a few passengers right next to the driver and the cleaner, up front, in the driver’s cabin. People standing in the aisle was also very very common.

When I started flying around on business, I was always puzzled by the gross waste of expensive flight space both in the asile and the cockpit, even when the planes were called Airbus!

Now Air India has figured it is OK to use the cockpit to carry a few extra passengers. In a downturn, what with everybody wanting to go green, this is certainly justified. Next, they just have to fix a handle bar on the roof running the length of the asile, and they can take standing passengers (at a discounted fare, of course). Also, if they can keep the doors open in-flight, a few can hang from the footboard.

Pity they can’t go the whole hog and load up on the roof! Then again, maybe with some Fevicol…
